Villegas, Royal and Latham In Double Figures, Loboettes Bounce Back with Solid Win Over Lubbock Estacado 75-50

Loboettes201718Paige Royal scored 22, Miranda Villegas had 20 and freshman Allie Latham scored 10 from the bench on Tuesday as the #5 Levelland Loboettes snapped a two game skid with a 75-to-50 win over the Lubbock Estacado Lady Matadors. The win moves the Loboettes to 22-and-two overall and one-and-one in the district.

Leveland got a fast start behind three threes from Paige Royal and a three from Madi Ruiz. It was a 22-to-11 run for the Loboettes to open the contest and it got progressively worse from there.

Miranda Villegas scored 12 of her 20 in the second frame and Levelland led 48-to-24 at half.

The lead grew through the third to Levelland 63, Lubbock Estacado 33 and despite the Lady Matadors winning the fourth 17-to-12, Levelland rolled on for the win 75-to-50.

Paige Royal led the way hitting for 22 while knocking down four threes in the win while Miranda Villegas scored 20 and Allie Latham added 10 off the bench. MaKayla Escue scored nine while Natalie Velardez took five, Jaycee Hill and Madi Ruiz scored three each, Kiahra Graves scored two and Megan Latham added one.

Ckyra Simms was the only Lady Matador in double figures as she came off the bench and scored 22 in the loss.

The Loboettes were red hot from the floor in their home gym.

Levelland hit 30-of-61 from the floor at 49% and went nine-of-ten from behind the arch at 90%.

Lubbock Estacado lived off offensive boards. While grabbing 28 offensive rebounds compared to 15 from the Loboettes, the Lady Matadors scored 25 points off the glass.

Lubbock Estacado gave up 33 turnovers in the contest leading to 17 points for the Loboettes.

Lubbock Estacado slips to oh-and-two in district play as they prepare to host oh-and-two Brownfield on Friday night.

Levelland improves to 22-and-two on the year and one-and-one in district play.

They pack up and head to Lamesa Friday night for a match up with the one-and-one Lamesa Golden Tornadoes.

The Loboettes will be joined by the Lobos in Lamesa as all Junior Varsity games are set to tip at 5:00pm with Varsity Girls and Freshman Boys tipping at 6:30pm and Varsity Boys with the Freshman Girls tipping at 8:00pm.
