After the Levelland ISD Board of Trustees recently approved the hiring of first year coach Parker Hicks, it was assumed to be to an assistant coaching position but according to a report from KCBD sports anchor Pete Christy, the rookie will be leading Lobo Basketball as a head coach for 2022.

Hicks, a graduate of Decatur High School,  was a three time All-Region selection and two-time District 9-4A Most Valuable Player. Hicks averaged 31.2 points 10.2 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game in his senior season.

Following high school he played a handful of games in two seasons under then Texas Tech head coach Chris Beard before transferring to Lubbock Christian University.

With the Chaps Hicks was an NABC All-American, becoming the program’s first player to reach All-American status in the NCAA D-II era. He was also an NABC All-District Selection, Lone Star Conference Player of the Year and an All-LSC First Team member.

No word as of yet when Hicks will report for duty as he is currently playing for the Air Raiders in the TBT in late July.
