Legan and Legan Resign from Sundown ISD

Sundown Superintendent Brent Evans has officially announced the resignation of long time girls basketball coach and educator Brian Legan as well as his assistant coach, spouse and educator Janice Legan.
Legan, head coach at Sundown ISD for 19 seasons, added his 500th career win as a coach in the 2021 campaign while winning a 2A Area Championship game over Forsan.
“It was a tough decision for sure but we’ve preached family first to our players for a lot of years and realized we needed to take our own advice,” said Coach Brian Legan in an email to KLVT Sports. “I’m taking a step back and gonna prioritize my family. We’ve loved every year and every team we’ve been blessed to coach in Sundown. Thanks so much for covering our teams. Sundown was home for 19 awesome years and I’ll never forget the people there and our players that made our program one of the best.”
Legan posted a record of 427-and-193 with the Roughettes and carries a career record of 526-and-291.
Both of the coaching duo have played a big roll in the classrooms at Sundown as well with Brian teaching history and Janice teaching BIM.
“The Legan’s did Sundown ISD a great job and their longtime experience and daily influence on our kids will be missed,” said Evans about the teaching coaching duo. “We wish them the best of luck!”
As the 2022-23 season is coming on quickly, Evans told KLVT Radio that the search for their replacements will begin immediately.
