Lobo Offense Struggles to Find Rhythm Against Lubbock High

November 23, 2021

The Levelland Lobos struggled to find ways to score the basketball Monday afternoon as Levelland fell to the Lubbock High Westerners 44-to-39 on a 22 turnover day.

Lubbock High would lead Levelland nine-to-two early but the Lobos would go on a nine-to-two run through the back of the quarter to leave the contest tied at 11 after one frame.

Scoring would continue to be hard to come through the entire game as Levelland led 23-to-21 at the half but the Westerners would take the third ten-to-sis to lead 31-to-29 after three.

The Lobos never quite were out of reach but would never lead again as the Westerners won the fourth 13-to-eight and took the 44-to-39 win.

Taeshaun Jones scored 20 points to pace the Lobos but was the only Lobo to find double figures as Uriel Calderon and Jerry Haile scored five each, Zameron LeCroy added four and Caleb Salazar scored three. Aaron Williams added two in the loss.

The Westerners got just one double figure as Cole Stephens led Lubbock High with 13 points in the win.

Levelland would get off just 40 field goal attempts hitting 14-of-40 at 35% while connecting on four-of-16 back of the arch at 25% and suffering under the weight of 22 turnovers on the day.

The Lobos jump right back into the fray on Tuesday as they join the Loboettes for a trip to Midland Greenwood.

Both the Lobo and Loboette Junior Varsity tipoff at 10:00am, with Varsity Girls and Freshman Boys at 11:15am and Varsity Boys and Freshman Girls at 12:30pm.

Catch the Lobos and Loboettes live on KLVT AM1230, and via audio on Levelland Sports Nation on Facebook with the pregame show starting around 10:45am.
