Bordayo’s Three Run Shot Sends Levelland to Seven-and-Oh in District

April 5, 2021
Senior Catcher Dylan Bordayo’s Three Run Shot the Difference for Levelland Friday

Dylan Bordayo’s first homerun of the season came on Friday and the three run blast send the Levelland Lobos to the winner’s column for the seventh time in 2021.

The Lobos would get two on the board in the first when Zaiden LeCroy would walk and Dylan Wolfe reached on a Sweetwater error. Blake Klose and Tyler Marrow would drive those two across and Levelland led two-to-nothing after one frame.

The big blow would come in the third.

With Levelland in front two-to-nothing, Dylen Wolfe would single and Blake Klose would walk setting a two on and one out for the Lobos. Sweetwater would run Dylan Bordayo to three-and-one and the senior catcher made them pay. Bordayo would rip a three run homerun to left-center and those three would be all Levelland would need.

Sweetwater would get on the board in the fourth on singles from Darian Carr and Leo Holsey but it would be the only two runs the Mustangs would get and Levelland went on for the five-two- win.

Levelland got five runs on eight hits with two errors and left eight while Sweetwater got just two runs on six hits with three errors and left six.

Joel Pena tossed his second district win of the season going six and two-thirds on the road giving up two runs and five hits, two walks and nine strikeouts. Dylen Wolfe pitched a save in a third of an inning allowing no runs and a hit.

Jake McCoy took the loss for the Mustangs working four innings and allowing five runs with four earned. Those came on five hits, three walks and three strikeouts. Tate Thompson worked three innings of scoreless relief allowing three hits, one walk and two strikeouts.

The Levelland Lobos move to seven-and-oh in district play and 15-and-five on the year as they have swept the Sweetwater Mustangs three-and-oh and shift their attention to Lubbock Estacado week two.

The Lobos travel to Lubbock on Tuesday and host the Matadors Friday with both games set for 7:00pm. Catch them live on KLVT AM1230, and on Levelland Sports Nation on Facebook.
