Loboettes Drop Two Saturday, Head to Seminole Tuesday

The Levelland Loboettes took hosting duty on Saturday as both Monahans and Idalou came to town and both took wins off the Loboettes. The losses move the Loboettes to four-and-12 on the season as they head for Seminole on Tuesday.

The Levelland Loboettes led the Monahans most of the time in the opener on Saturday only to fall to the Lady Loboes 25-23, 25-19, 25-23.

Levelland led most of the way through game one before the Lady Loboes took a 25-to-23 win.

Game two, while Monahans led most of the way, was blow-by-blow early but Monahans found some distance midway. While Levelland rallied from down eight, Monahans still won 25-19 and took a two-to-none lead to the third.

Game three certainly looked to go the way of the Loboettes as Levelland led by as many as eight points midway, however, Monahans took the lead over at 23-to-22 and took the third 25-23 and the match 25-23, 25-19, 25-23.

Monahans out killed Levelland 34-to-25 while Levelland won the blocking three-to-two.

Levelland aced six times on five faults while Monahans aced four times on four faults.

Michaela Watkins stepped up with 11 kills and one ace while Kaylee McCarter chipped in seven kills and Mahalie Stafford put up three kills and one block.

Kalgarie Oaks came out in the serving department with 12 points while going 17-of-19 in service and recording two aces. Madison Martin tossed up seven points on two aces.

Monahans got 12 kills each from Macy Watts and Taryn Griner while Griner tossed up nine points on an ace and Taryn Samnuels added eight points in the win.

The loss moved the Loboettes record to four-and-11 on the season.

Idalou def. Levelland 25-18, 25-20, 25-9
While the Loboettes had some momentum against Monahans, they struggled to find it again as Idalou swept Levelland 25-18, 25-20 and 25-nine.

While the Lady Cats would hit for a five point string in the first and a four point string in the second, Idalou went on two four point runs and two five points run in the third to put it away with out doubt, 25-18, 25-20 and 25-nine.

Idalou out killed Levelland 29-to-20 and won the block column three-to-one.

Most of the damage was done in serve as Idalou cranked off 11 service aces on just three faults while Levelland would ace five times on one fault.

Michaela Watkins topped the card with seven kills while Mahalie Stafford put up six kills on the day.

Allie Latham led the service with seven points on four aces.

Kayla Johnson paced Idalou with nine kills while Hailey VanBeeKum tabbed seven kills and three blocks. Sloane Light led the service with 11 points on two aces.

The loss moves the Loboette record to four-and-12 on the season.

The Levelland Loboettes are inching ever closer to district play for 2020 and with a trip to Seminole on Tuesday and a double with Hereford and host team Shallowater, the Loboettes are still looking for some momentum. District play opens Saturday the 26th at Snyder.

The Loboettes in Seminole on Tuesday night with Junior Varsity Black at Junior Varsity Red both serving at 5:00pm. The Varsity is set to start at 6:00pm.
