Loboettes Fall to Undefeated Brownfield in Four, Levelland Moves to Four-and-Ten

It was a slugfest for the Levelland Loboettes on Tuesday night as Levelland fell to undefeated Brownfield 25-22, 21-25, 30-28, 25-19 to move to four-and-10 on the season.

It was blow by blow all night as Brownfield took the lead early in game one and rode it to a 25-to-22 win. Levelland would respond taking an early lead in the second and won it 25-to-21 to even the match at one game all.

Brownfield took the lead early in the third but the Loboettes pushed it to a 24 all game before game point was played at 30-to-28 Brownfield. That put the Lady Cubs in front one-and-two.

Game four the lead changed early but the Lady Cubs found a five point run from Madison Hord and put the Loboettes away in the fourth 25-to-19 and took the match 25-22, 21-25, 30-28, and 25-19.

Levelland was out killed 54-to-33 but won the block column eight-to-three.

Levelland did manage ten service aces but faulted 14 times in four games. Brownfield connected on seven aces with 11 faults.

Michaela Watkins led the Loboette charge with 14 kills and three blocks on the night while Kaylee McCarter connected on seven kills, Regan LaBadie added four and Mahalie Stafford and Amber Kelly took three kills each. Mahalie Stafford added three blocks while Amber Kelly collected two.

Mallory Blocker would serve for nine points on one ace while Allie Latham added ten points on five aces and Kaylee McCarter took eight points on one ace.

Brownfield’s Tia Johnson was good! 22 kills and two blocks on the night paced Brownfield. Meriah Gonzalez added nine kills while Madison Hord and Gabi Fields served for 12 points each in the win.

Levelland moves to four-and-ten on the season and are sitting with five matches left before district opens.

Levelland hosts Monahans and Idalou for triangular on Saturday with Junior Varsity Black games at Levelland Middle School starting at 11:00am. Junior Varsity Red will be in the auxiliary gym at Levelland High School starting at 11:00am and the Varsity starts at 11:00am in Gano Tubb Gymnasium.
