Loboettes Take Second at Plains Cross Country Meet

Levelland LL on State LogoThe Levelland Lobos and Loboettes Cross Country teams opened their season in earnest on Saturday and the Levelland Loboettes finished second with 54 points trailing only team champion Sundown as the Roughettes finished with 22 points.

McKenna Ruiz led the charge running in third place at 13:27 while Jaylin Cisneros took sixth in 13:41 and Addy Hill ran 10th at 14:08.  Isabel Martinez finished 19th with Erika Castillo running 20th, Crystal Castellanos in 36th and Erin Tienda in 50th.

The Levelland Lobos would finish fourth overall with 115 points paced by Rodrigo Ornelas in fourth place at 17:29.  Alexis Mendez ran 17th, Luis Ramirez in 32nd, Kaleb Reyna 33rd, Matthew Bautista 47th, Erasmo Villegas at 50th and Gabriel Nieland at 53rd.

To make things interesting, Coach Nelda Munoz had to Junior High runners in the mix for experience but both proved to be stiff competition as seventh grader Ariana Lopez turned in a 14:32 that would of gotten her in the top 15 and eighth grader Carly Tienda turned in a 14:52 that would haven gotten her in the top 20.

Both the Levelland Junior High, Junior Varsity and Varsity will be in action again on Saturday as they head to Lubbock Christian University for the Chap Invite.
