Loboettes Fall to Lubbock Monterey, Slide to Six-and-Three in 2019

Double LThe Levelland Loboettes got on their home floor on Tuesday night and despite the home opener, the Levelland Loboettes were defeated by a solid Lubbock Monterey team 25-18, 18-25, 25-16 and 25-19 to move to six-and-three in 2019.

Levelland led early in the opening frame but the Lady Plainsmen surged midway to put up a 25-to-18 win in game one.

Levelland got going early in second and despite a late rally from the Lady Plainsmen, Levelland took the second 25-18.

Lubbock Monterey raced out to early leads in the third and fourth and while running away with game three 25-16, Levelland rallied late in the fourth but ran short down the stretch in the 25-to-19 loss.

Lubbock Monterey would win in four 25-18, 18-25, 25-16 and 25-19.

Levelland was out killed 43-to-26 while the blocks were even at five each.  The Lady Plainsmen put up 13 service aces compared to Levelland’s nine but the Loboettes faulted just five times in service compared to Monterey’s 13 service faults.

Levelland got eight kills from Kazzi Spears to lead the way while Michaela Watkins tagged six and Annie Dewbre added four kills and three blocks.  Kaylee McCarter added three kills while Mahalie Stafford and Illiyana Gonzalez got two kills each and Mika Campos added a single kill.

Kriston Montgomery, Kazzi Spears, and Kaylee McCarter served for seven points each while Michaela Watkins and Jordan Campell added six points each and Annie Dewbre chipped in five.

Spears, Watkins and Campbell all collected two aces each while Mika Campos and Annie Dewbre added one ace each.

Monterey got 12 kills and a block from Madeline Stephens along with nine kills from Nadia Morales and two blocks each from Kelly Mora and Khristian Butler.

Emma Dudley led the Lady Plainsmen in service with 15 points and four aces.

The loss moves the Loboettes to six-and-three on the year as they pack their traveling bags for the Amarillo River Road Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
