Loboettes Survive Late Evening Tornado, Loboettes to Four-and-One in District

loboloyaltyThe Levelland Loboettes watched a seven lead twist away in a Golden Tornado on Tuesday night but the Loboettes survived the storm for a 11-to-nine win and move to four-and-one in district play with five to go.

Lamesa got on the board first on as Ariel Hernandez was hit by a pitch and Leeloni Martin drew a walk. Hernandez scored on a two out double from Madisyn Ruiz and Lamesa led one-to-nothing after one.

Levelland answered back in the second as Miranda Villegas would score Chloe Dunn on a triple to left center. Villegas would score on a sacarifice fly from Val Maravilla and Levelland moved in front two-to-one to the bottom of the second.

Lamesa would retie the game in the bottom of the third off a hit and a couple of walks and the game was tie at two each after three.

Levelland came unhinged in the fourth.

Behind singles from Mia Rendon, Chloe Dunn, Mica Contreras and Miranda Villegas along with a two RBI double from Kriston Montgomery, and three Lamesa errors, the Loboettes plated six in the fourth to take a eight-to-two lead through four.

They would strike for to more in the fifth on a second hit from Kriston Montgomery, a third hit from Mica Contreras and two more Lamesa errors and Levelland led 10-to-three to the bottom of the fifth.

Lamesa would not go away quietly.

The Golden Tornadoes would get two walks and three singles along a Loboette error of the game in the bottom of the sixth and two the seventh, Levelland led the Golden Tornadoes 10-to-eight.

Levelland would get one back in the seventh on back-to-back doubles from Christen Covarrubias and Chloe Dunn to lead 11-to-eight to the bottom of the seventh.

Lamesa threaten the lead in the seventh but only got one with a double and a Loboette error leaving the tying run on first base as Levelland got a ground out to end the game with Levelland hanging on for the 11-to-nine win.

Levelland would get 11 runs on 14 hits with two errors and three left. Lamesa got nine runs on ten hits with four errors and left 11.

Christen Covarrubias took the win working a split appearance and threw six and two-thirds officially. She would allow eight runs with four earned on eight hits, six walks, a hit batter and six strike outs. Kriston Montgomery worked four batters in the middle of the contest allowing one earned run on two hits, one walk and one strike out.

Ariel Hernandez took the loss for Lamesa throwing four and a third on 74 pitches. She would allow ten runs with five earned on ten hits, no walks and two strike outs. Kori Iglesias worked two and two-thirds in relief allowing one earned run on four hits with no walks or strike outs.

Lamsea slides to two-and-three in district play at the turn while the Levelland Loboettes sit in second place at the turn. The Loboettes hit the back side of the schedule at four-and-one and trailing five-and-oh Seminole by one game.

Levelland travels to Seminole on Friday April 6th with first pitch set for 5:30pm.
