Loboettes Win Weather Shorten Game at Estacado

March 28, 2018

loboloyaltyThe Levelland Loboettes traveled to Lubbock Estacado on Tuesday and despite playing just over three innings the game was called due to weather and Levelland was awarded the win three-to-nothing to improve to two-and-one in district play.

The contest went scoreless through three innings before Levelland broke through in the fourth.

Mica Contreras led off the inning with a walk before Christen Covarrubias doubled.  Both would score on a fly ball from Chloe Dunn and Dunn scored moments later on an Estacado error making the score Levelland 3, Lubbock Estacado 0 heading to the bottom of the fourth.

And that was that.

Levelland recorded two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning before the umpires cleared the field for a lighting delay.

About 15 minutes later KLVT Radio was informed by Levelland Coach Rick Musemeche that the game was officially over and that Lubbock Estacado offered to accept the score as an official result, and that was signed off on by the umpires.

Strange ending.

Levelland would get three runs on four hits with no errors and five left while Lubbock Estacado got no runs on no hits with three errors and two left.

Kriston Montgomery will take the win working three and two-thirds.  She allowed no runs on no hits with three walks and five strike outs.

Victoria Quintana took the loss working four innings while allowing three runs with one earned.  Those came on four hits, one walk  and four strike outs.

Levelland moves to 14-11-and-1 on the year and two-and-one in district play while Lubbock Estacado drops to oh-and-three.

Levelland returns to action on Friday when they play host to the Denver City Fillies with first pitch scheduled for noon.
