Levelland Loboettes Drop District Opener to Seminole Maidens

loboloyaltyLevelland Loboettes Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 8-to-2 loss to Seminole on Tuesday as Levelland opens the district at oh-and-one.

Seminole took the lead on a in the first inning while the Loboettes struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Seminole, giving up eight runs.

Seminole got on the board in the first inning as an error scored one run for the Maidens.

Seminole hung up four more runs in the sixth inning behind RBI from Hayven Perez and Jody Vaughn.

Miranda Villegas, Sckylar Alvarez, Covarrubias, Valarie Maravilla, and Chole Dunn each managed one hit to lead the Loobettes who managed to crack the board with two runs in the seventh but it was too little too late and Levelland fell eight-to-two.

Seminole got eight runs on ten hits with no errors while Levelland scored two runs on five hits with three errors.

Jodi Vaughn pitched Seminole to victory. She allowed five hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out 17 and walking one.

Christen Covarrubias took the loss for Levelland Loboettes Varsity. She lasted seven innings, allowing ten hits and eight runs while striking out three and walking one.

The Levelland Loboettes move to 12-11-and-one on the season and oh-and-one in district play as they prepare to host Brownfield on Friday night with first pitch scheduled for 5:30pm at Loboette Field.

The Lady Cubs opened the 2018 district slate with a four-to-two over Lamesa on Tuesday.
