Lobos Take Pair on Friday and Move to Six-and-Five on the Season

loboloyaltyThe Levelland Lobos took a pair on Friday during the 2018 Levelland Line Drive Classic with a 4-to-2 win over Alpine and a 7-to-6 win over San Jacinto Academy to move their record to six-and-five on the season.

The Lobos won an afternoon game on Friday as Sophomore south paw Zak Betancourt went the full seven in a 4-to-2 win for the Lobos.

Levelland got four runs on seven hits with two errors and left nine while Alpine got two runs on four hits with two errors and three left.

After Alpine scored a single unearned run in the first and a second run in the second the Levelland Lobos found the board in the third. Noah Ochoa would walk and be lifted for pinch runner Straton Dobson. Dobson would steal second and score on a RBI double from Zak Betancourt narrowing the score to Alpine 2, Levelland 1 after three.

The Lobos tied the game in the fourth as Tristan VanZandt reached on a error, stole second and scored on a RBI single from Devin Lopez.

Levelland added the winning run in the fifth when Noah Ochoa would draw another walk and again be lifted for a pinch runner Straton Dobson. Again Dobson would steal second and move to third on a single from Zak Betancourt. Betancourt would be lifted for pinch runner Jersson Hernandez. The Lobos would execute the double steal as Hernandez swiped second and on the throw, Dobson would steal home putting the Lobos in front three-to-two after five.

The Lobos would get an insurance run on a pair of singles from Tristan VanZandt and Angel Pena to win the contest four-to-two.

Zak Betancourt would pitch all seven in the win throwing 90 pitches and 58 strikes. He would allow two runs with one earned on four hits, two walks, a hit batter and six strike outs.

The win moved the Lobos record to five-and-five on the season as the San Jacinto Patriots came calling for the night cap.

The Levelland Lobos survivied a wild five inning contest on Friday night with a seven-to-six win over the San Jacinto Academy Patriots to move their record to six-and-five on the season.

Levelland scratched out seven runs on six hits with three errors and left eight while San Jacinto scored six runs on six hits with two errors and three left.

Levelland plowed through their bullpen as Marco Serrato struggled through his second start of the year and managed just one inning. Justin Palomin would come on and surrender two runs in an inning and a third before the Lobos would find the hot hand.

Straton Dobson, just three days out of the basketball season, would come on and shut the Patroits down. He would take the win working two and two-thirds on 44 pitches while allowing just one earned run on three hits, a walk and six strike outs.

The Lobo offense managed runs in every inning scoring three in the first, two in the second and one each in the third and fourth to pick up win number six on the season.

Levelland returns to the field on Saturday to wrap up the Levelland Line Drive Classic as they take on the Idalou Wildcats. Lobo Pregame Show starts at 12:00pm with first pitch at 12:30pm on KLVT AM1230 and http://www.klvtradio.com.
