Levelland Lobos Fall to #10 Seminole, Move to Four-and-Four in the District

LobosThe Levelland Lobos returned home on Tuesday night for a second meeting with the #10 Seminole Indians and despite another gallant effort, the Lobos fell 58-to-47 to the Indians and move to

20-and-nine overall and four-and-four in district play.

Levelland started strong getting three threes from Jakeevian Ford along with a three from Jacob Ramirez to lead the Indians 17-to-ten after one frame.

Seminole rallied in the second for 17 points while holding Levelland to a pair of field goals and led Levelland 27-to-22 at half.

The lead grew to 44-to-36 after three and while the Lobos attempted to press their way back into the lead, Seminole survived six fourth quarter turnovers and went on for the 58-to-47 win.

Levelland got 13 each from Jakeevian Ford and Reid O’Connor while Broderick Golightly scored seven and Isaiah Salazar added five. Joel White scored four with Jacob Ramirez tossing in three and Kaleb Reyna adding two in the loss.

Seminole got 20 from Clayton Medlin and 11 from Reese Moore in the win.

Levelland didn’t play badly but Seminole was just too much in spots.

Levelland shot 18-of-40 from the floor at 45% while hitting six-of-13 behind the arch and giving up just 12 turnovers.

While the Indians coughed up 15 turnovers they would also shoot 24-of-44 from the floor at 55% and collect 10 points off 10 offensive rebounds.

The #10 Seminole Indians move to 21-and-seven on the year and remain in second in district at seven-and-one.

The Levelland Lobos slide 20-and-nine on the year and four-and-four in district play. That keeps the Lobos in third place in district with two games to go.

Seminole will host district leading Lubbock Estacado on Friday night before traveling to the Brownfield Cubs on Tuesday next week to wrap up the regular season.

Levelland will travel to oh-and-eight Denver City on Friday night and while the Mustangs can’t get back into the playoff top four, the Levelland Lobos could seal up their playoff spot with a win over the Mustangs. Levelland wraps up the regular season hosting Lubbock Estacado on Tuesday.
