#3 Levelland Loboettes Go Two Fer on Tuesday and Enter Playoffs as One Seed

LoboetteBasketballDistrictChampionshipThe #3 Levelland Loboettes had two tasks on Tuesday night. One, beat Seminole. Check. Two win a coin flip. Check. The 48-to-28 win over the Maidens sent the Loboettes into a co-district championship and a tie with Denver City, and the following coin flip gave the Loboettes the number one seed for the playoffs.

First things first.

MaKayla Escue scored six in the front quarter while Madi Ruiz added four and Levelland was in front 10-to-five after one frame.

It only grew from there.

Levelland out scored Seminole 14-to-six in the second and cruised in for the 48-to-28 win.

Miranda Villegas led all scores with 13 while Madi Ruiz hung a career high on Senior Night with 10. MaKayla Escue finished with eight while Paige Royal scored seven and Natalie Velardez and M’Kenzi Campbell added five each in the win.

Taylor Harvey scored 12 for the Maidens while only four scored. Bret’lie Dominguez scored eight.

Levelland did what Levelland does, defense, defense, and defense.

The Loboettes forced 17 turnovers on Seminole while allowing just 11 field goals, five free throws, and blocking nine shots.

The Seminole Maidens close the regular season at 19-and-12 on the year and five-and-five in district play. That leaves the Maidens in a tie for third with Lubbock Estacado. Those two teams will play a tie breaker on Friday at the South Plains College Texan Dome.

Levelland closes the regular season at 30-and-two and nine-and-one in the district play and a tie with Denver City.

So the game continued for the Loboettes with a coin flip.

Coach Clay Barnett continued the Loboettes winning ways with a win in the coin flip and giving the Levelland Loboettes the number one seed for the playoffs.

The Levelland Loboettes will open the playoff season against the Dalhart Lady Wolves with the time and date to be determined.
