Roughnecks Move to Two-and-Oh with a Win at Morton

letstalkfbbanner5The Sundown Roughnecks followed a week one win on the road at Morton Friday night as they cruised by the Indians 69-to-nothing. The Roughnecks move to two-and-oh on the year while Morton drops to oh-and-two.

The Sundown Roughneck defense was flat out dominant against the Indians as they held the tribe to a negative rushing yards total and only 74 passing.

Isaac Hernandez added a 29 yard interception for a touchdown and coupled that with two other interceptions and a fumble recovery.

Christian Huey playing way above the fact of just his second varsity football game guided the new look Roughneck offense.

The Roughnecks would score on their first five posessions as Huey rushed for touchdowns from 23 yards and 31 yards. He would toss two as well hitting Zach Smith from 24 yards out and Steven Quintnella from 23 yards out.

Zack Smith would step in at quarterback in the second half and threw two touchdown strikes as well.

Sundown led 49-to-nothing at the half leading game officials to run the clock continuously in the second half.

Sundown would win the contest 69-to-nothing.

For the Roughnecks, now two-and-oh on the season, return home Friday night to take on the two-and-oh Seagraves Eagles. Seagraves opened with wins over Stanton and Floydada.

Morton moves to oh-and-two on the year and host the two-and-oh Lubbock Christian Eagles.
