Loboette Volleyball Looks Solid in 2017, Looking Ahead at Loboette Volleyball

July 10, 2017

volleyballopengymThe Levelland Loboettes are less then a month away from the 2017 volleyball season and with a solid program in place and a large group of players returning to the roster, the Loboettes look toward another great year.

Levelland went 26-and-16 in 2016 under then Coach Karli Morrison.  They would finish second in district and captured 4A-1 Bi-District and Area Championships before falling to Monahans to wrap up the 2016 schedule.

While the Loboettes will undergo a coaching change for the 2017 season, it would certainly appear on paper that another great season is on the way.

While head coach Karli Morrison has resigned for a coaching assignment at Lubbock Cooper High School and freshman coach Albert Riveria has resigned as well, the Loboettes will add veteran leadership in 2017.  Coach Shelly Kay takes the reigns in 2017 and brings over 25 years of coaching experience to the table.  Coupled with a new freshman coach, Coach Rick Musemeche with over 20 years of coaching and teaching experience, and the stable presence of Loboette Junior Varsity Coach Laurie Smith, the squad’s leadership looks solid to say the least.

Roster wise, Levelland lost two solid seniors in Sydney Ramirez and Alyssa Tienda but return some serious talent in 2017.  Seniors Paige Royal, and M’Kenzie Campell along with junior power house Makayla Escue to the net, along with multi sport spark plug Natalie Velardez.  Toss in now seniors Avery Read, Megan Latham, Mia Rendon and Kelsie Davis and a solid junior group with Kiahra Graves, Mari Ruiz, Brooke Lamb, and Cassie Corrales along with the talent of sophomores Chloe Dunn and Kazzi Spears.  Add it all up, it’s a lot of returning talent and experience for the 2017 Levelland Loboettes.

The Loboettes open the season in less then a month as they scrimmage with Lubbock Cooper and Canyon High on August 4th, scrimmage at Littlefield on the 5th and scrimmage Plainview at home on the 7th.

The regular season opens on Thursday August 11th at the Monahans Tournament.  They also pickup tournament action hosting a tourney on August 17th through the 19th and head to the Frenship Tournament August 25th and 26th.

District play opens on September 23rd with the standard trip to Lubbock Estacado and again features the Lady Matadors as well as Brownfield, Denver City, Lamesa and Seminole.

Catch the action of Levelland Loboette Volleyball all season long on KLVT AM1230 and with Michael Wiiest.  Coverage begins on August 15th.
