Levelland ISD Signs Veteran Volleyball Coach

LoboLoyaltyLevelland ISD has filled a major coaching vacancy as former Whitharral Lady Panther Shelly Kay comes to the Loboette volleyball camp for the start of 2017.

Kay, a Whitharral High School graduate, brings over 25 years of teaching and coaching experience to the table and has experience coaching in many sports at the Texas high school level including volleyball, basketball, track and tennis.

Originally Kay was hired on as a teacher and coach Levelland Middle School but when Coach Karli Morrison left the volleyball program for Lubbock Cooper ISD, she moved into the vacancy as both head volleyball coach and health teacher at Levelland High School.

Kay was a stand out basketball player at Wayland Baptist University. The former Flying Queen still holds records for assists in a game at 21 and in a season at 266. She was also an American Women’s Sports Federation All American and lettered three of four years she played at Plainview.

Her parents Wylie and Doris Kay are long time residents of Hockley County.

Coach Kay invites Loboette Volleyball players to an open gym session on Thursday June 8th from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. Loboette Volleyball Camp will be coming on July 24th through the 27th and two-a-days start directly after.
