Andrews Mustangs Edge the Levelland Lobos at the Levelland Invitational

LoboLoyaltyThe Levelland Invitational when down on Thursday and he Andrews Mustangs just did edge out the Levelland Lobos for team gold in the wind.

Andrews would close the meet at 113 points while Levelland finished a very close second at 102.

Weather would force an alteration to the meet. According to word received from Levelland Track and Field Coach Nelda Munoz, “Due to wind we did not do pole vault, JV high jump, or 300 hurdles. Due to lightning we stopped during the 200 hurdles and did not do mile or mile relay.”

Points from the missing 1800 meter run may have put the Lobos over the top, none the less, I was a solid day for Levelland.

Daniel Hurn took three golds with a win in the 100 Meters at 10.54. He also grabbed the gold in the Long Jump at 21′ 9.00” and the Triple Jump at 45′ 7.00.”

Isaac Vargas took gold in the 3200 Meter Run at 10:22.05 while Cheaden Reyna took gold in the 110 Meter Hurdles at 15.49.

Levelland would also turn out gold in the 4×200 relay as Jacob Ramirez, Jeff Elliot, Daniel Hurn and Mason Brogdan turned in a 1:34.28.

Other medals for the Lobos included a third from Reyna in the Long Jump, and second in the Triple Jump while Hiajomah Hudson took third in the Triple Jump and Braden Price added third in the Boys Shot Put.

The Loboettes finished four in the field of eight.

Allysa Almanger took second in the 400 Meter Run in 1:08.47 while Sydney Ramirez added fourth in the 100 Meter Hurdles at 17:04. Reina Vargas added third in the Shot Put at 32′ 3.50” and Saron Mendoza put up 31′ 5.50” in fourth.

The Loboettes finished with 36 points as Andrews won the meet at 141.’

The Lobos and Loboettes next action will be at Lamesa on Friday March 31st.
